To all members,
I haven’t sent out anything before now because I am concerned about the rise in cases of Covid. Most of us are of an age where we have been vaccinated, but many of us have family members who would be vulnerable if they caught Covid, even if vaccinated. Providing the official guidance doesn’t change, we are due to meet at Ashtorre Rock next Monday, 6 September. At last Monday’s Zoom meeting, we discussed the risks and the means of mitigating them. The nine of us who were present unanimously agreed the following: 1 If you have been vaccinated, show proof either by a card or in the app. 2 Show evidence of a negative lateral flow test. (These are free, available from chemists.) No test, no entry. 3 Have a mask ready for use if it is crowded. Be prepared to be ‘zapped’ by a thermometer. Hand gel will be available. Regards, Kay

Great news!!
Members have responded to an email regarding returning to in person meetings in September at Ashtorre Rock and the votes are in with members deciding that YES we should take the chance to now return to in person meetings. Most members will be double vaxers and we are sure that all of us will take precautions and be sensible about attendance as we find our feet again and continue to learn to live with Covid19. Our first evening back will be on Monday 6th September for our welcome evening - We hope to see you there! New potential members are most welcome and encouraged to pop along to the evening to meet other members and learn what the club is about before the full programme for the year kicks off on the following week. The programme of upcoming weeks is available here: Programme Don't forget in the meantime to collect your images for the Merits 28th June 2021 was our final meeting of the 2020-2021 club year. Unlike our usual celebration and awards evening, the AGM was the final item on this year's agenda thanks to covid.
The AGM saw our committee re-elected into their roles for another 12 months and Kay being officially voted as chairperson having been temporarily placed in the role when Dan was forced to resign due to ill health. Thank you to Dan Foote for leading the club for the past few years and for successfully securing us community grants for new equipment while in this role. Zoom meetings have really been the key to the club continuing since the pandemic took hold. We are hopeful that things may change before the new season begins again in September and that there could be a return to Ashtorre Rock, but if this isn't the case, we are confident that we will be able to hold a filled programme for the 2021-2022 season. A new website has also been designed for the club. This will allow us to update members on this news/blog page and we are hoping to grow our community with a member's area for those who may need a helping hand when it comes to competition rules etc. We hope that a new website will make it easier to show our work and encourage along new faces - if you're reading this - come and stir up the pot among the current members with some new competition! We will be back in September - in the meantime - stay safe, stay clicking, and enjoy your summer break! |
